It all started 13 years ago while bodyboarding in the waters of Boa Viagem beach in Recife - Brazil. With shark attacks increasing, the authorities decided to prohibit all types of surf in the area, ending with the fun of young people like Bruno.

The boy didn’t take the order immediately, continuing to practice bodyboarding until a lifeguard threatened to confiscate his board. ''I had to stop going into the water, but I didn’t want to stop surfing. I kept thinking for a long time and by chance, I discovered that my board could also slide in wet sand. That's when the real fun started. "

At the time, Bruno didn’t know that what he was doing was already a real sport. “After this, a friend told me he had seen on the internet some guys doing the same thing I was doing but with a different board. I ran to the computer to see what he was talking about. That’s how I ended up discovering the skimboard and my passion for it. The sport show up in 1930 at Laguna Beach, California, but it only started in Brazil in the '80s.

After the first contact with the skimboard, things just got better. Bruno Sá ended up being the first skimmer in Pernambuco, Brazil. His first sponsorship was a brand called MTX, created by his own brother Matheus Sá just to give him the first boost until new sponsors came along. Over time, championships were held in Brazil, when, in 2007, Bruno competed for the first time in the professional category, ranking second. But 2 years later, he signed-up for the Red Bull Hard Skimming, the biggest championship in Brazil, where he stood out across the country and across the world for getting the first place. From this moment on, new opportunities for sponsorship showed up.

In 2012, Bruno Sá joined the Zap Skimboards team, one of the world's largest skim board companies, which he keeps being part of until nowadays. In 2017, he also joined Govi’s team, an international brand of beachwear and sunglasses. In 2019, he joined Castel Supplies, a national brand of surf and skimboard’s traction.

Bruno Sá always dreamed of competing in the United Skim Tour (UST), the World Skimboard’s Championship that takes place every year in the United States. In 2019, this dream could be fulfilled due to the support of his sponsors, especially Zap Skimboards, who financed most part of the trip. In his first UST appearance, he obtained the 5th place among the 60 professional athletes, being part of 4 from the 6 UST’s contests.

Currently, Bruno Sá spends hours and hours of his days training, aiming to get further and further, so he can participate from all UST’s stages, conquering more winnings and also creating new projects.
